Terms of Use

You own everything you write. The coach is software and can be wrong. Write about anything you like — but don't use this app to get instructions for hurting someone. You must be 18 or older. You can leave at any time and take your work with you.

Write Club is operated by Jenny Dobson (sole operator) in Colorado, United States. Using the app means you accept these terms. If you don't, don't use it.

You keep every right in everything you write, upload and create here. Publishing it, selling it, adapting it — all yours, and you owe us nothing from it.

You give us only the narrow permission we need to run the app for you: to store, display, back up, index and transmit your material so the features work. That permission exists only to operate the service, ends when you delete the material or your account, and does not let us publish your work, show it to another writer, sell it, or license it to anyone.

We do not claim any ownership of the books you write here, and we will never assert a share of what they earn.

• It won't write your prose for you. The coach interviews, prompts and reflects; ghostwritten scenes are not a feature and never will be.
• It won't show your material to another writer, ever.
• It won't be used to train AI models on your work.
• Anonymous craft patterns cross between accounts only where you allow it — see the privacy notice.

Much of what gets written here is true and about identifiable people. That's allowed, and it is the point of the app for many writers.

What you record privately is one thing; what you publish is another, and publication is your decision and your responsibility. We can flag things worth a second look, but nothing in this app is legal advice, and neither the app nor the operator is your lawyer. Before publishing material about real people, get a defamation and privacy read from a qualified lawyer in your country.

You can write about any subject — murder, abuse, suicide, addiction, extremism. Subject matter is never the problem, and the app will not refuse a topic because it's dark.

The line is real-world usable harm. Don't use Write Club to:

• Extract working instructions, quantities, formulas or code for weapons, explosives, poisons, drug synthesis, hacking, fraud or evading forensics — the fictional frame doesn't change what a working recipe is.
• Produce material that would function outside the story as propaganda, harassment, a recruitment pitch, or a plan against a real person.
• Create sexual content involving minors, in any form, for any reason.
• Store or distribute material you have no right to, or break the law where you live.
• Attack the service — scraping, reverse engineering, breaking access controls, or trying to reach another writer's account.

Serious or repeated breaches mean we close the account. We'll give you your work first unless the law prevents it.

The writing coach is software. It gets things wrong, invents details, and has no qualifications. Nothing it says is legal, medical, psychiatric, financial or tax advice, and you shouldn't rely on it as such.

It is also not an emergency service and nobody is monitoring your account. If you are in danger or thinking about ending your life, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line — the app will show you some, but it cannot help you the way a person can.

You must be at least 18. Accounts we believe belong to someone younger are closed and deleted.

This is a small operation. Things break, and features change. We don't promise the app will always be available or bug-free.

If Write Club ever shuts down, you get at least 60 days' notice and a working export of everything you've written. Your books will not be held hostage to a service ending.

Delete your account whenever you want, from inside the app. We may close an account for a serious breach of these terms. Either way, export first — after deletion we can't get it back.

To the extent the law allows, the app is provided as-is, and we are not liable for lost profits, lost opportunities or indirect losses. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — and if you're a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Keep your own backups of work that matters to you. The export button exists for exactly this reason.

These terms are governed by the laws of Colorado, United States. If you're a consumer elsewhere, you keep the protections and the courts of your own country.

We'll show you material changes in the app and ask you to accept them before you carry on. Continuing to use Write Club after that means you've accepted the new version.
